CLEARANCE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE

In 2013, the National Identity Card System was replaced by the Mauritius National Identity Card Scheme. 

 ​With the advent of the new regulations governing the Mauritius National Identity Card Scheme, eligible Mauritian citizens, born abroad, henceforth have to apply for clearance at the Prime Minister’s Office prior to their application for the issue of the Mauritius National Identity Card.

FOR THE CLEARANCE, APPLICANTS NEED TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:​

​​​1.​

Unabridged Birt​h Cer​tific​ate of applicant duly apostilled (full birth certificate).


2​.​

Birth Certificates of Parents:​​​


​(i​)
If either parent is born in Mauritius, Certificate by Civil Status Office of Mauritius in A4 format and issued less than 3 months;​
(ii)
If either parent is born abroad, Birth Certificate duly apostilled.​
3.​Marriage Certificate of applicant’s parents, duly apostilled, if marriage celebrated abroad.​
4.​Marriage Certificate of applicant, duly apostilled, if marriage celebrated abroad (if applicable).​
5.​Valid passport of applicant (either foreign or Mauritian passport).​
6.​Mauritian passport of applicant’s parents.
7.​Certificate of foreign nationality of parents indicating the date of acquisition of the foreign nationality, duly apostilled.​
8.​Evidence of applicant’s parents’ residence permit abroad, duly apostilled.​
9.​Affidavits if there is any discrepancy in the name of applicants and/or parents.​
10.​Any document pertaining to change of name, if applicable.​

11.​Proof of Address.​

NOTE TO APPICANTS :​​
​​​(i)Applicant should call in person to submit the application.​

(ii)
All documents shall be submitted in ORIGINAL plus 1 COPY.


Documents should be in either English or French Language.

(ALL TRANSLATED DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE DULY APOSTILLED).
(iii)Any other relevant documents pertaining to the application at hand might also be requested by this Office.

(iv)​Any change of name for Mauritian born parents should be made executory in Mauritius.
(v)Processing ti​me shall be 2 working days after which applicant can call at the ID Card Unit, Central Civil Status Division in Port Louis for registration.

ONLY A COMPLETE DOSSIER WILL BE ACCEPTED BY THIS OFFICE
